p.1 A:Landscape formation

1.Features sculpted by surface processes are called landforms.
2.Uplift is a process that moves the surface of Earth to a higher elevation
a.Earth's internal heat energy (thermal) moves rock material and produces uplift.
b.When a large, flat area is uplifted, a plateau is formed.
c.A mountain forms when a non-flat uplifted area has many steep slopes.
d.Volcanoes are formed when internal heat melts rock and pushes it out the surface.
3.Erosion is a surface process that wears away soil and rock.
a.Water, wind, gravity, and ice break apart the rocks, changing mounains into plains.
b.Rivers and streams carry rock fragments(sediment) downhill, carving valleys (V-shaped and U-shaped) and steep-sided canyons.
c.Ocean waves move sediment along the caostline.

B:California Landforms
1.External forces cause valleys to form.
a.Glaciers carved a U-shaped valley in the surface of California's Yosemite National Park.
b.Rivers usually carve sharper, V-shaped valleys in rock.
OK now im gonna take a break. But, i was right, was I not??PURE TORTURE!!!

Well, I didn't come back like i said I would, but the good news is, I got a 96%(or was it 93??)on my quiz!!!YAY YAY YAY!!!
